There is a kit for this. The HJ shifter is the same as used on a chevrolet of the same year. I've used the kit and I've tried every adjustment . Nothing really worked.

I thought so. The last time I did this I pulled it and ran a dowel through the center. supported the dowel on both ends and slowly rotated the wheel as I sprayed.Worked very well, smooth  and no runs. You do good work. When you take it to a National, bring the title!

See how many ways the owner was expressed himself. I like the way the crank case breather to air cleaner hoseis now a road draft tube. Still can not figure out what is going own with the battery cables.

Cruising speed. As far as capability,"Put the pedal to the metal". Power to weight ratio, aerodynamics and gearing all add up to you can not go fast enough to endanger any thing.BUT handling is another thing. It is top heavy, lightly sprung ,no sway bar in the rear and a ridiculously small one in the front. A very sudden lane change and you are in real trouble. You never know when a ladder or some such will fall into your path on the freeway and you have to change lanes fast. After a series of simulated trials , I decided that I would not go over 65 in any case, but it is up to the individual.
BRAKES,remember those 9''ers were barely adequate in a panic stop at a 55 freeway speed and laughable at 70.

I do not think that vertical hose barb will fit under the HJ floor boards. I had to use a 90 degree one.
