Removal of steering wheen on 51 Kaiser Special
« on: March 08, 2008, 02:52:35 PM »
The horn blows when ever I turn the steering wheel.  I do not know the correct procedure to remove the steering wheel so I can see what the problem is.  I don't see a solution or an exploded view in the owners manual.  Could someone help me or at least point me in the right direction of where to look for the removal information.

Thank you.

I used rubber gloves of the kind you can get at any grocery store.  The medalian in the middle of the wheel comes off by twisting it in one direction or the other, can't remember which.  Under that is the metal parts, a spring, (don't loose it) and a rubber donut which you can get via the KFOCI manufacturing fund.  This piece is usually crumbly junk by now and that is normally the problem.  I replaced mine and it works perfectly now.
