I wonder if I have to remove the motor plate or just leave it on and clean it and repaint?
What have you done to remove the cam gear on a 161? My pullers can't get behind gear. I'm thinking of heating gear then try and pry it off.

I replaced one once and I just used two long screw drivers. Gently pried a little on each side and eventually it worked it off.
