Same Temp Gauge Subject - Different Problem
« on: October 16, 2021, 11:01:48 AM »
Have a 48 Std Frazer with working Frazer Temp Gauge, but have salvaged (non-original) head.  Casting on this head reads "KFO 710280" with date 6-10-48 and has what appears to be a 1/2" to 3/8" pipe thread bushing with electric sending  unit in screwed in.  With the Frazer temp gauge sending end being a strange thread is the problem.  Parts info shows an apparent KF part # 201549.  Is this the adapter I need or do I need a different head ?   I'm hung up !

If you check your 1947-49 factory shop manual (Blue cover; also works with 1950 models) you will see that the Frazer is different from the Kaiser and the two should not be switched (but will fit dash and block holes for the sender).   Frazer gauges work off a Bourdon tube while Kaiser gauges work off electric sender;  different calibration between the types causes different readings that could be a problem for you on the road.
