640395- This is listed in my parts book Group 17-3 as Transmission Main Shaft and Gears- Plate, Shifting Synchronizer- 3 required in 1954-1955 Willys cars w/ 226 Engine, Std. Trans.  I've never been involved with this part so if you know more let us know.  The seller clearly states that he has no knowledge if the part shown is correct in the box.  This just might make your car shift better.

They are transmission synchronizer plates.  Can't tell if they're for Henry J or Kaiser transmission and Walck's Willys parts site does not make the distinction if they're for the T-96 or T-90 trans.  It's possible they fit either one.

I hadn't considered the Kaiser connection, but it sure makes sense, probably under another part number.  Is the Kaiser part available?  Looks like a wear part especially needed when we are inside our old transmissions.  Keep it going.

i just checked the 54/55 Parts book supplement and under Group 17-03 the part number 640395 is listed as ' plate, shifting, synchronizer' and 3 are required per car. Cross checking the 1952/53 book the part number is different for this part. This part is used in models 6-226 and 6-226A.

Well , it found a new home.  Sure wish a knowledgeable rebuilder had told us if the part inside was correct and if it is available elsewhere.
