Kaiser's in Israel
« on: August 17, 2011, 07:11:59 PM »
As a collector of K-F memorabilia I was glad to receive a mailing on the tenth anniversary of the Kaiser-Ilin plant in Haifa Israel.  It was started in 1951 and I also have a brochure from 1956 where they were still offering new Kaisers that looked like 1953 models.  They lasted a few more years after 1961 and assembled Mack trucks and Renault cars among other projects.  I wonder if any of the Kaiser cars built or assembled in Israel have survived and it would be interesting to know what the differences were if any.  Does anyone know of a survivor?  They no doubt had different serial number tags.

Haifa built cars have an H on the body serial number tag (like, for example, K514-H1553).  They should also have an H on the door post tag (K514-H038776 would be an example).

There is a 54 style Kaiser in a small car museum about 30 km south of Israel's northern border. I has seen a picture of it in the museum. I would suppose that it is actually an early or late Special (ie not supercharged), and it may be a 55 by serial number. Looked to be white or a very light off-white (B&W picture)

Hi I have owned a -51 Kaiser Special 4door that came from Haifa it had chassis number H-1198,it did not have a door post tag, there were many Kaisers from Haifa in Finland. The Haifa Kaiser were assembled with parts at hand and could differ from the USA Kaiser.

I have a 1951 Service Manual which has a Hebrew language dealer stamp in it. Bought it from one of our members who was at the 1992 New Braunfels, TX National. He was selling some stuff to pay for parts, etc. to take back to Israel with him.  He also bought a Henry J from Rod Olsen in Blair, Nebraska and drove it to the east coast. There, he separated the body from the frame. He shipped the body (I think) and sold the rest here because Israel does not allow the importation of a whole car. He had a good frame back there and thus made a complete car with a serial number and history that the Israeli authorities would accept.

Thanks for the great information and history.  If you want some more good info. on the cars and plant google Kaiser Ilin.  An interesting part of the Kaiser Industries from 1951 and they were perhaps selling Kaisers as late as 1956 according to my sales brochure from Israel.
