So, what are the issues with using a Delco Distributor in a '51 Frazer? If you have the correct little pot metal adapter, do they interchange, or is there an internal interface problem in the engine?

THEY DO NOT INTERCHANGE. The factory shop manual as well as various service bulletins state that A-L and Delco parts cannot be interchanged. The electrical components of any engine are designed to work as a time. If you go mixing brand parts the car will not run as well because of the way they put load on the system plus there are interface issues.
