# 81 Darrin

I just received my "Barn Find" Darrin a week ago and I am in the process of getting it running.   It seems a lot of work was done prior to being put into the barn, 36 years ago.  It has held up and cleaned up quite well.    Once I get it running, I plan on driving it for a while before I get into any major restoration.   I will send pictures once I get it on the road.

Can anyone fill me in on it's history?   I already know the engine number doesn't match and it should be yellow w/ yellow interior.

In the future, I will need a rr axle, any suggestions?

The rear axle is the same as the Henry J, but with the larger full size Kaiser brake backing plates and hardware. Just make sure you use one with the right ratio. And, KF never matched engine to vehicle numbers. So, unless you live in a state where the motor number was used for registration, it doesn't matter.

Well done Phil..  It looks like that there is some more Dariins in that barn or am I seeing things.  As for the differential Tom Young in Idaho may have one as he has a lot of HJ parts. His PH # is 208-353-7086.  It would be cheaper if you bought only the carrier assembly  rather than the whole differential assy. You say this car is supposed to be yellow & yellow trim?  Did some one repaint it red.  Just asking.

No, Richard, you are not seeing things, there are a total of 8 more Darrin's, one is a hard top (I guess only 6 were made, don't know for sure).  These have all been there 30 or more years.   As you can see from this picture, there is a hard top Darrin in far the background.

The paint code and interior codes told me the original colors, as I said, a lot of work was done prior to it being sold to the person who kept it these last 36 years.
