1953 Kaiser Deluxe
« on: October 23, 2012, 12:26:42 PM »
Have a good question for you guys. I have recently come across a 53 kaiser deluxe 2 door, this car runs and drives with no problems. The battery went down on me and I think the generator or the brushes went bad. But anyways, what are these cars worth? I was told when i got it that it was only 1 of 255 produced, is this true? I want to sell it but dont even really know where to start with pricing the car, any help would be appreciated thanks.

As a general rule, most of us do not get into pricing as without seeing the car and going through it, there is no way to tell condition.  Also, price in today's economy is somewhat subjective.  Just because you have a rare car it usually never means $$$$ unless high performance cars or there is something special about the car other than production numbers (a special owner, special equipment factory installed, etc).   If someone tells you the car should be worth $$$$$ because it is one out of 255, see what they will pay for it and see what their response is.

Thanks for the extra pictures Joe, I wasn't sure how to add them. Is the 255 a true production number? There was a paper in the car when I got it, it has stuff on there such as the new parts the car had, and the 255 production number.

I thought that 255 sounded a little low. Either way its still a pretty cool car that stands out, everyone says "What is that thing"!

Most of the production info in KFOCI HANDBOOK THIRD EDITION was obsoleted by information in KFOCI HANDBOOK Version 4.0 (the first release on CD).  However in this case, lacking better detail on the factory's surviving production counts, The estimate from Third Edition stands unless there is an update in the Kaiser-Frazer Registry for this model, based on body serial number.   Don't forget to subtract 1000 from the serial number to get actual number of bodies produced.
