Another Brake Question
« on: April 11, 2009, 11:31:07 AM »
Well, here's another one.  I removed my master cylinder yesterday and have a re-building kit ready, but when I took it apart I was missing a piece that the shop manual says should be there.  It is called the "piston stop plate."  If you remove the piston push rod and boot you will see a a retaining clip.  The stop plate should be directly behind it.  It stops the piston, but on my car the piston was hitting directly against the retainer--there was no stop plate.  I don't know if there is any way to get this part.  Acutally, it looks like just a washer, which I might be able to find at a hardware store, but I wanted to see if anyone had any experience with this.  It's a '53 Kaiser (Dragon).

I called Larry Barker and he's sending me one.  That was easy!
