'48 Kaiser original
« on: July 15, 2017, 07:01:21 PM »
I would like to communicate with someone who has an original, un restored '48 Special Kaiser, especially the interior (trim 122 would be best).  If you are, or know, that person I'd appreciate getting a name and contact number?

Thanks so much,

Carl

Thanks Geo.
Yes, that does help, because it seems to confirm what I suspected, namely, that trim code 121, which is what you must have given the green interior paint, and trim code 122 which has the taupe interior paint as in mine, both have the same fabric.  Yours seems to be identical to mine and what Jerry Wilbeck has on his '47 as well.

The colors in yours and in his are a lot better than what I had, but still seem to be fairly faded.  Is there anyway you could take a seat out, turn it over, or someplace find a section of material that has NOT been subjected to sunshine and see if the colors there are any brighter or more intense?  If so please photograph and send to carleidsness@gmail.com

If I do decide to have SMS replicate this material, a possibility I am strongly considering, as you can read in my new thread a couple days later, would you want to get enough to do your car as well?

I found out that another 48 KAISER, that I have, is a coded 122.
I am going to pull the front seat and see if I can find a good piece of cloth.
If I do, I will cut it out and send it to you.

I now am quite confident that in Rollie Potts car I have found a perfect NOS sample of the striped fabric used in all '47 and '48 Kaiser Specials on the seats and door panels.  Arrangements have been made for SMS to replicate it.  If 2 more people decide to order along with me we can buy it for $95 instead of $125/yd.  If you, or anyone you know, could be interested in ordering, please get in touch with me.
