Interesting looking '47 on ebay
« on: March 22, 2018, 09:15:33 PM »
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1947-Kaiser-Special-4-door-K100-complete-running-for-parts-no-title-74-800-miles/323163934857?hash=item4b3e125089:g:vBIAAOSweRlatEcJ&vxp=mtr

Not mine.  A late '47 (as is evident by the K100 model designation on the door tag) with one piece scripts.  Someone added overdrive and it has that cool old Motorolla radio in it.  Rear quarters look quite rusty.  Also has '49/'50 Frazer belt molding and chrome drip rails. As the ad states, there's some interesting add-ons on it - sun visor, wheel discs etc.

It was not unusual for a prior owner of an old car to "jazz it up" in various ways, sometimes rather tasteful.  As for the 1 piece hood & trunk lettering, I do have a K-F TV commercial from the fall of 1947 that shows a Frazer with 1947 lettering and right next to it a 1947 Kaiser with the 1-piece version as seen on 1948's.  There were 65,066 1947 Kaiser Specials built according to factory producton counts, so the last serial number would be K100-66056.  That makes it one of the last 500 of the type produced.  It might be that the lettering change was made around this point.

This car has the stainless rain gutters attached also perhaps from a Manhattan.  The snap on white wall rings are aftermarket as the K-F 's were made of plastic and fit under the hubcaps.  That nice original front seat probably came from a different car.  It certainly does have lots of good parts!

This car is a '47 with individual letters on the trunk lid and a one piece script on the hood.  No way to know if it shipped that way but it might have. It's serial number K100-052973 so it was late in the '47 model year run.

It could have been hit in the front sometime in its lifetime and the new hood and emblem installed which would have been cheaper than buying all of the individual letters or perhaps parts from a used car were used for the repairs.  It is unlikely that it would have come from the factory with different emblems front and rear.

Gents:
My car is a '47, S/N 66004.  Is there another one of that model with a later S/N in the club?

Check Harold Haugen's Kaiser-Frazer registry.  It can be accessed via the main page of the KFOCI Website.

Harold's registry can be found here - https://eskimo.com/~hhagen/reg/reg.htm

Checking the registry, there is one known car with a higher serial number. Keep in mind that reported cars are not tracked after they're listed in the registry so the car may or may not exist today, or still be with a club member.
