Pictures from the Mt Pleasant, IA Meet
« on: May 11, 2018, 08:06:31 PM »
I drove my '51 Kaiser Special 363 miles to the meet in Mt. Pleasant, IA.  Mainly so I could see the leather upholstered '48 Kaiser Custom that we used to own. It did not disappoint.  First pic is my '51 (the last Kaiser dad restored) parked next to '48 Custom which was the first Kaiser my dad restored. They'd never been together.
Others are some random shots of some great cars.

That's pretty neat about seeing cars your dad restored parked side by side, both good looking cars.

Nice looking collection of cars, thanks for posting.

Great pictures and it looks like a fun meet.  I see Ed Hausgen's '51 Kaiser convertible all the way from Missouri.  Lots of nice cars!

Wow two Kaiser Darrin's in Valley, Nebraska...

I think Gene M car  was sold to a guy in Valley, Nebraska. It was White..

Yes,  the white one was there too. I didn't get any pictures - didn't realize it till after my battery went dead. It was raining afterward so both Darrins were promptly stored in their trailers. I don't blame them!

We both & Club Members know 47-48 Custom’s are Rare, but Leather more Rare. Also a Plus when stay’s in the Club.

Here is a picture of it.. When Gene still owned it.

Thanks. I didn't recall that Gene owned a Darrin. It's a beauty.

There is a story in the local paper.  Looks like  you have to sign up and pay to read it -

I spoke to the staff at the Mount Pleasant News and they have unlocked the article so now it can be read -

Nice write up with one error.  My dad did not install a hood ornament on that '48 Custom. The hood ornament was on it when he purchased it and at that time he was not aware that it was not original so he left it on. After he sold it, another owner removed it and Rich found it in the trunk and gave it to me. It's a great momento to have and I thank him. It's also a great story just the same.

Note: Through out The Years on some Early Special models of K F Products, it would have a Hood Ornament. Example: Special orders for someone , rare, unique, It was found ?  So You would always say Who put that on the Vehicle ? I know Our Historian may have more information?

Example on the first Year of the Lincoln L S, they didn't want to put V 8 or V 6 sign because if the 6 did not sell would be Bad. So if it was a V 8 the back seat headrest was adjustable just like the front seats, V 6 The was fixed non adjustable in back seat front was adjustable.
So If Customer wanted V 8 You walked behind looking through the back glass to find adjustable headrest .
