Hydramatic Pilot Bearing
« on: July 09, 2010, 08:01:31 PM »
KF used a pilot bearing that rode on the front end of the hydramatic transmission main shaft and against the machined inner surface of the back of the crankshaft. When I separated the transmission from the engine on my 54, I noticed that my setup did not have the pilot bearing. I checked my 54 parts book and p/n 209228, the pilot bearing is not listed, however, it is shown in the 51K parts book, which leads me to believe that it was eliminated from production.
Can anyone confirm?

Check a 1954 Pontiac hydra-matic parts list;  the transmissions were for all intents the same.
