Oil pump installation
« on: June 27, 2019, 10:00:44 AM »
Can anyone tell me, to change out the oil pump in my '48 Kaiser, is it necessary to take the motor out of the car, or can it be done by dropping the oil pan?
Thanks,

This good question has been answered in previous posts.  The answer is yes you can install an oil pump in a Kaiser or Frazer without pulling the engine but the problem arises when the pan won't come down enough for removal because the tie rods get in the way requiring removing them or jacking the engine up enough for clearance depending on which car model you have.  Does anyone have experience doing this on a '48 Kaiser?

You will need to lift the engine a few inches and it does help to pull the tie rods out of the way.

remember if you jack up the engine to take off the radiator hoses and maybe the radiator.   from experience the radiator hose connections don't like it
