proper size wipers
« on: January 27, 2020, 03:34:58 PM »
Could someone verify the proper length of the wiper blade and wiper arm for a 1947 Frazer.  I bought a pair of 10" blades and they hit the windshield edges which leads me to believe the arms are too long (maybe replaced sometime in the past.)
                                                                       Thank you

Hi Bob, proper blade length, at least for the 51-55's are 11 inches so I suspect you're right on the arms are wrong length, Bob Dayton.

All Kaiser-Frazer cars used the Trico RB-11 blades which are 11 inches long.  This requires an 11 inch wiper arm.  Try Willow Run Auto Parts and slee if they still have these in stock.

1947-50 Kaiser and Frazer, 1951 Frazer and all Henry J used an 11" Trico Triple Action rigid frame blade, part numbers TAU-11 or WLA-778-11C, the former being much easier to find. All 1951-1955 Kaiser full size cars and Darrin used the Trico RB-11 blade. The difference between the blades is that the RB-11 has a flexible frame for the curved windshield while the others have a rigid frame for use with flat glass.

The RB-11 can be used universally but experience has shown the rigid frame blades give better performance on flat glass. The attached photo illustrates the difference in frame design. Ignore the length.

The other photo illustrates the arm needed. It's 11" in length and should have the end angled as shown.
