Parts needed - Darrin
« on: February 10, 2012, 12:03:46 PM »
I am in final stages of putting another Darrin back on the road and need:
1. Knurled cap for a wiper stalk for installing Wiper arm on.
2. Need passenger side wiper arm. (usable arm)
Any help would be much appreciated or some source where I migh find these items.
Thanks,
Bill #353

Those ebay parts don't look like what is on my Darrin, but then again, I'm not positive that what I have is "original", I just cleaned and detailed the wiper transmission, etc., the "stands" don't look proper. As far as wiper arms go, I got new ones from National Parts Depot (www.npdlink.com) for $39.50 for the pair, they fit a 1957 T-bird. I also put a new pair on my '57 Bird during it's restoration, they are nice. There is a company that makes those knurled pieces but I can't seem to find the info right now.

Gary, thanks for posting the parts number.  I went to the web site but unfortunately, they don't show a photo of the part.  I need a set for my car (54 Manhattan) as well.  Are these bent left and right at the ends?  Can you let us know the overall length?

Thanks, Mike

Mike - The part # given is for a pair and I believe they are bent at the ends, although I have a pair with adjustable ends also, so they will work left or right. I dug up the paperwork and the pair I have here are #T-17527-3, LH, and T-17526-3, RH. They are "concours correct", bayonet end arms. These are $29.95 each, (60 bucks a pair) a bit pricey but really nice. The overall length of the arm is 12".
