Question about 226 cooling system

I have an extra 226 for my 49 Traveler, I have not fired it, my question is, does the engine have a tube like the old chevy and packard for the cooling going back to the last two cylinders?  I don't want to attach a garden hose up and fire it and foul the back two cylinders with water if the tube, if there is one, is bad.  Everything else I own runs and I haven't thought about this issue until I was aked about it. Thanks, the reason of the question was the water pump was froze up with corrosion, and couldn't answer my neighbors question.

No, KF blocks do not use water distribution tubes like the old Chevs, Packards and 6 cylinder Mopars.

I have an extra 226 engine completly rebuild by a Kaiser specialist/owner and will part with it if someone is in need.

Most of the GM 1937-1948 8cyl and 6 cly had a water distribution tube in the block to the best of my knowledge.

kdar, is the 226 a stick or hydramatic engine? And, where are you located?

 You are probably right on the flat heads used by Olds and Pont. I never got into one of them deeper than a valve job,but chev. never used them as they were OHV engines. Chev tried a V8 back in the 20s that didnt work out. The next 8 cyl chev had was the 265 in 1955. Back in the old days each branch of GM was vastly different not like today where the only difference is the nameplate.
