August issue of Hot Rod
« on: June 08, 2013, 05:44:39 PM »
If you don't subscribe to it, you may want to pick up a copy when it hits the news stands. There's 51 Kaiser Manhattan feattured that's been highly customized by someone named Keith Charvonia. Its been chopped, wheelbase shortened, Gene Winfield did one of his custom fade paint jobs. Its riding on a 90's Caprice chassis with an LT1 in it among many other mods. Oh and it is now a 2 door. Intrerior is out of a 65 Thunderbird. I know its not what most guys here are in to but its pretty cool.

I saw it.  Neighbor came running over to show me the article.  They took a 4 Dr Deluxe LIKE MY 51 and custom made into two door.  If you have high blood pressure, don't see the article.  LOL

This is the same car that appeared on Jay Leno's Garage http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEvMSkRWOK0.  The owner says that the car was destined for the scrapyard.  That being the case, I don't know how this would cause anyone's blood pressure to rise.  Custom or not, it's one more Kaiser on the road instead of at the crusher, and he has done a very nice job.

There have been several 51-55 Kaisers placed on Caprice frames. Solves the problem of power steering real well. The son of Mano Foresman, one of our members in Scandinavia,  also managed to convert a 4 dr into a 2dr. So far no hot rodder has the interest to do such surgery on a 47-50 Frazer. Now that would be interesting.
