Steering Wheel Repair
« on: April 20, 2014, 02:05:26 PM »
My recent purchase of my 1951 Henry J came with a steering wheel with a couple "repairable" cracks.

I saw how the repair was done using EPOXY from a YouTube Video. Now that I've completed said repairs in situ, I did not remove the wheel, does any one know of a matching (off white/cream) paint color to cover the repair work.

I asked the same question about 9 months ago here on the forum.  The suggestion was to use 1965 Ford Wimbleton (sp?) White.  The wheel came out beautiful.
Keep in mind the steering wheel is hard rubber, so there is alot of flex.  You want to be sure to use a flexible epoxy or cracks will reappear.

I recommend taking some time to look back at many of the forum discussions in the last 14 months.  I just finished our 1952 Corsiar Deluxe and the information I was given in response to my questions was just awesome.  Alot of knowledgable people on this forum.  Look for posts started by me and you will find I was in same position I was in.  You will find alot of answers.  :)

I did the repair on my steering wheel. I had used a YouTube video for reference.

The Wimbledon White paint was the right color and my local automotive paint store made me up a 3oz bottle.

As far as checking the Forum Archives, you are correct. I should know better as I've belonged to other clubs and used their Archives.

Appreciate the responses and comments.

Post a picture of the finished wheel when you have it done.  Glad to help
