Looks like a very solid car and as the ad says, it could probably be cleaned up and driven as is.

It's car #234 and I don't have a listing for it in my roster, but my copy is a few years old. Terry may have it in his.

I think the car is a steal at the current bid ($29K).

It is a "lost" car.

I would say it is not lost anymore.   Hopefully, some one in the club will purchase it.   I think the price will go up considerably in the next six days.

According to post on AACA forum here: http://forums.aaca.org/topic/288531-solid-original-kaiser-darrin-for-salestarting-at-only-29000no-reserve/, the Darrin that was shown in this eBay auction has been sold. Poster had a pic of it on a trailer, attached below.

Congratulations to the new owner!

I'd be curious to know what it sold for. The seller ended the auction early.

I am the new owner of the Darrin that was on Ebay #234. That is a picture of us picking up the car on a trailer. I did pay a little over $29k, it came out to $34k finally. The car need a fair amount of work, I have the engine at the machine shop, what all it needs in known yet, but I do need a new head, too many cracks to even use. Anyone who knows where I can get a head, I would love to hear from you.
I have reworked all of the brake components and will be installing everything, including new brake lines next week.
I hope to get it running and drive-able in the next 2 months and take it to cruise nights and car shows this summer, then do the body and interior new summer.

Looking for:
engine head
exhaust manifold
wiring harness,
windshield frame
front suspension rebuild components
shocks
tie rods
carpet pattern

Welcome to Darrin ownership!!   Are all the parts there for the doors, I remember seeing them in the trunk.

The engine is a Willy's 161 cu. in. F-Head that is also used in the Henry J, that should make it easier to find.   Don't tell the buyers you want it for a Darrin, or the price goes up!!!

Where are you located, it must be east coast or south east,  since you picked it up instead of having it shipped.

The Wiring harness can be had using Bob Mc Bride, in Florida (a club member) if he still makes them.   Very good quality at a very affordable price.

Why do you need a windshield frame, it looks intact in the picture, I believe the Club's MFGR. group has them.

Others can help with the rest.

Send pictures as you complete parts.

The 6 cylinder engines in the Henry J's are L-heads, not F-heads.

I live outside Washington DC. I think all of the door parts are there, I haven't assembled them yet, but the latching mechanism and tracks, etc seem to be all there. I am not sure exactly  how they go together.
The windshield seems to be all there but the center section is tack welded to the corner sections. It may just need to be disassembled, finish welded then rechromed.  However when I tried to attach the roof to the center of the windheild is pulled off the windshield. Should it be bonded to the windshield to eliminate this?
I am trying to make it go and stop first (engine and brakes) before spending time on everything else. Cold weather limits the time available to work. Oh and with that in mind, I need one brake adjuster, an upper radiator support and a tach cable.

thanks

Ditto what Terry said - they are not the same engine as Henry J. However, there were a number of Willys passenger cars that used the 161 F-head engine so you should be able to locate one.

KF used two different style door mechanisms in the Darrin and diagrams as well as assembly instructions are available for both versions. That said, Darrin door assembly and alignment is not for the faint of heart.

I have information for both versions - when you're ready let me know and we'll figure which set you need.

I have a friend who has NOS f-head blocks so if yours is no good, let me know and I'll pass along contact info.
