Aero vent window rubber
« on: February 28, 2017, 06:15:05 PM »
I'm not finding any vendors that have the vent window rubber for the Aero (1952 Wing).  Does anyone have a source or possibly a substitute model that can be trimmed to fit?

I have started looking at other vehicles to try to find something close that I can make work, but dimensions of vent windows are not easy to come by.

Sourcing restoration parts for this car is much more of a challenge than I had expected!

Thank you. He is one of the vendors I have tried.  He has it for the other windows, but not for the vent windows.  He sent me a list of what is available for the Aero.  He wrote this note: "I have not been able to obtain a NOS seal from which to make a mold".

Longshot, but if someone has something that Pat could use for a mold, it sounds like he might be able to have some made.

Keep in mind that the front vent window rubbers on the sedans (two- or four-door, 1952-1955) are different from the Eagle/Bermuda rubbers (1952-1955). The rubbers on the rear door vent windows (1952-1955) are different from both the fronts. As far as I know, none of the three (well, six, cuz there's a left and a right) are in reproduction.

Care to post what he currently has for the Aero?

Also, anyone here have any experience with his moldings or supplying him with "pattern" pieces for new moldings?

Update: Just checked mercado, here's a link to Aero rubber http://lista.mercadolivre.com.br/aero-willys-borracha
and vent rubber for the '63 http://produto.mercadolivre.com.br/MLB-835244343-borracha-quebra-vento-traseiro-aero-willys-1963-em-diante-_JM
I've always thought the '63 door skins, hood & trunk lid were the same as earlier cars but have no way of confirming that. The upper door frames are definitely different and that may have changed the wings.

Thanks for the links.  I will check into those.
Here is the list that was mailed to me recently.  I have not made any purchases from him as of yet.
