Joe and Henry introduce the '49 Frazer
« on: March 02, 2018, 12:55:46 PM »
I'm sure most of your Frazer Folk are very familiar with the photograph [page 70] in Langworth's book depicting Joe Frazer and Henry Kaiser shaking hands over the first 49 Kaiser [a Custom] to come off the line at Willow Run. But WAIT--just for fun, I thought that maybe they also paused to get a shot of the first 1949 Frazer that day! This watercolor is available as a 21 x 13 limited edition remarqued giclee print on premium stock. E-mail me at: jcmdc@windstream.net for further details.

There is no such photo of Henry and Joe with a 1949 Kaiser Custom...the car in the photo is a 1949 KAISER DELUXE with Edgar Kaiser at the wheel. There is also no known similar photo for the 1949 Frazer or Frazer Manhattan.  Especially one like the photo posted in this thread.

Both wrong. The car on page 70 of LOOD is a 1947 Custom.  Dragondust was simply attempting to create a similar photo using a '49 Frazer.  Nice work on the painting.

Hey, many thanks...and I stand corrected, that is indeed an earlier Kaiser. It provided my inspiration to do the painting which would have depicted them a few years later. My, they haven't aged much! Appreciate your comments on the watercolor. It is fun to paint "would be's" since there are no limits!

I remember the photo well because we had a '48 Custom for many years and there are also side views of that car with the "100,000th" on it. The fact  that it was a Custom stood out to me for that reason.  It's a great picture and you did a great job of recreating a more recent image of it.  I always wonder if that '47 Custom still exists somewhere.

Thanks so much for your comment. Do look carefully at the image...my brush decided to paint a 1949 FRAZER!
