What is this car?
« on: March 19, 2018, 02:52:34 PM »
Apologies if this is a duplicate message. I'm new here.

Anyway, I can't find any info on this car. Is it a K-F experimental or prototype?

During World War II, Henry J. Kaiser set up a group of engineers to work on postwar production ideas.  This team (known as the "Hobby Lobby") worked on a number of automobile ideas that had to meet certain criteria (mainly price point).  The car is one of several designs that got to running stage for evaluation.  The pictures I know of for the sedan were taken at the Vancouver WA Kaiser Shipyards.    Here are some pictures of other prototypes.

This work was separate from anything connected with Kaiser-Frazer and Graham-Paige other than it was an earlier indication that Henry wanted to get into the automobile manufacturing business when the war ended.

Thanks for the info on the "mystery car" and for the photos of others. I'm not a K-F owner, my only connection is my father owned a 1951 Kaiser sedan in Chrystal Green back in early 1950s. He remembered it fondly, loved how it rode, looked and sipped fuel. I recall the beautiful dashboard, and that I loved riding in it much more than in the old Buick he traded in on the Kaiser.

Thanks again for the help.
