Practically all of the factory photos of the early Kaisers and Frazer's had the front license bracket removed before photographing to give the bumpers a smooth look.  They even did that on the 1949 models although a few have a front bracket shown.  You might look at one to see how it is attached and maybe it would work on the GP bumper.  I suspect that they had small holes drilled at the bottom front of the bumpers for the bracket.  When I looked at Dave Antram's G.P. car he has the original bracket.  Perhaps a universal bracket would work if it installs on the bottom front of the bumper.  None of it will show when a license plate is installed. I've never even seen a picture of one.

I have the license plate brackets NOS for the 47-48 Kaisers with 1 piece and 3 piece bumpers on my list.  Wonder if they're the same?

What an amazingly cool find you have there.  I really enjoyed reading all the posts and could just feel the excitement in the air over this car.  Good luck with it!  You need to write a great story and send it to Mike Barker for the Quarterly!  Send him lots of photos, too.  I bet you could be on the cover of next year's calendar and still have a few photos inside as well.

The license bracket for the GP cars was a black painted one and nothing like the one mounted on the chrome bar between the extra bumper guards on the later Frazers.

The only parts book I have is dated April 1948. I don't think it always shows the original correct parts for the older s/n cars. Does anyone have an early Graham Paige Frazer parts list for sale or a copy I can purchase? Did the early parts book have illustrations showing the parts?
Is there an early s/n '47 G-P Frazer close to Illinois? I would like to get some pictures of an original car.

I believe Ed Hausgen in Elsberry, MO has a GP Frazer that has never been touched.  He should be in the directory.

Update on the '47 - motor now turns freely - (fortunately just had some valves stuck) - dropped the pan and cleaned the accumulated sludge - hope to be running by the weekend - getting ready to install front floor pans - found a replacement fender trim for the one that was missing - ordered a front floor mat - will update pictures sometime later this week

I would like the opinion of fellow club members about an insured value. Given the condition and early s/n, what should the insured value be? Any opinions?

I think you have to ask yourself what it would take to replace the car.  I have stated value policies w/ Hagerty for my cars.  I think it would be reasonable to insure your GP Frazer in its current state for something over 6K.

Exactly. What it might bring on an open market is NOT the same as what it might cost to replace. My cars are insured on this (paid, professionally appraised) basis which can be several times its 'market worth' In Canada, Silver Wheels plays nicer with you than it appears Haggerty and others do in the US, as far as use etc.

Could someone with knowledge of the early Graham Paige Frazer's tell me how the horn works? I was checking the steering wheel and horn button and am trying to figure out the horn mechanism. My '47 did not have a horn ring installed on the steering wheel when I bought it. The center button / medallion acts like it is spring loaded and would operate without a horn ring. Is it possible the horn on the early s/n cars operated that way?

The Advance Parts List as pictured in this thread is  the oldest one that I know of.  You would need this plus the other 1947 chassis and body parts list (in addition to the illustrated 47-48 book) to pick up on all the original part numbers and the running changes made during the model year. 

The original design of the horn operating system was intended to work off the button alone but the horn ring was added on Frazers and Kaisers.

Don't overlook the unexpected! I found out the long and extremely frustrating way, after replacing the horn wire on my newly purchased 49 Kaiser, that there is no electricity going through the circuit unless the ignition key is "on".  The upside is that I figured out a fast--under two minutes-- way to replace a horn wire

Checked the horn this morning. It works by depressing the button.
Did it originally have a horn ring?
I ordered an early parts book. Maybe it will show a s/n breakdown.

No, the early GP Frazers did not use a horn ring. Your car is correct as it is.
