Flat Towing Henry J's
« on: March 13, 2013, 01:23:22 AM »
Can a stock, six cylinder, three on tree Henry J without overdrive be flat towed on all four wheels with a simple tow bar?  Does the driveshaft need to be removed or can you just leave in neutral ?

Past experience with towing a Henry J  cross-country suggests that you drop the driveshaft as a safety precaution.

I have towed a lot of HJs, including one from California to Florida. I recommend that you drop the drive shaft. I tried to flat tow one, but it would not take a sharp turn without the wheels locking up to one side. I gave up and used a dolly.

I am thinking around town to drop another car off at a shop, or whatever.

I suggest you make a right or left turn in the neighborhood before you hit the road.

Not even going to try it if chance of it locking up.  I would imagine it is hard on front ends.
