Hi Bill - I purchased these rubber parts from Rudy's KF Parts in Ramona, California, (Rudy Phillips, rudyskfparts@sbcglobal.net, 1.760.789.3608). There are several outlets for parts, try posting to the "general discussion" area also, I think more people read that section than the Darrin area! Also , the club has a manufacturing fund and they offer parts for sale. I hope this helps a bit.

Gary. (sunny & 33 degrees this am) can I go to South Florida now?

Bill - The windshield posts mount without a gasket. They bolt directly to the fender and they try to scratch the paint while doing so! The only weatherstrip (other than around the glass itself) listed in the "sports car" parts list is #215420 which fits under the lower w/shield chrome to the cowl, and is available from the club's manufacturing fund.

Gary,
As always thanks. I got one off the post when disassembly took place. It is not pretty but!!!!!!!!!!!!! I suppose I can try to repair or leave off, It had a small lip around the border like many body gaskets are made.

There is in fact a formed rubber seal between the body and the windshield posts.
You do not want the posts hard mounted to the body.  This can lead to windshield breakage.
During restoration, body resurfacing should allow a gap to the posts which then can be filled with rubber flat stock cut to fit.

Hi Terry - Mine had no evidence of any type of gasket, which I thought was odd. I searched through the "sports car" parts book and found nothing about a gasket at the w/shield post. Is there a photo or a part # somewhere that you found? As I mentioned previously, the parts list shows a gasket only where the lower w/shield moulding meets the cowl.

You are correct about the parts book--but it is not 100% correct on other  items.
The one on my car cme off in very small pieces since it had become intimately bonded to the body throughout the years.
It did have a very small lip around the edge.
I have seen it on other unrestored cars.

Well then...I do believe I'll leave well enough alone! The w/shield posts conform to the body, the w/shield itself is secure and frankly I'm just not into adjusting the posts to install a piece of rubber that's probably not available!

Gary,
When you had the upholstry done in your Darrin, did you find the thread size to be different in the door stitching and seat stitching? Please advise me. Also, do you have a source for the thread colors that are right for the various cokors of Darrin interiors?
Thanks, Bill#353

Hi Bill - I did not replace the upholstery in the Darrin. I just "spruced" it up a bit. It was redone at some point decades ago and is in nice shape. Oddly though, the door stitching seems to be smaller than the seat stitching. The seat thread is neutral in color while the door panel thread has a red tint to it. But, as I said, it appears to have been replaced long ago.

Gary,
Darrin #353 is going back together and I now find I need more small parts. When I look under the hood of you car, there is a short electrical bar with 3 post with some kind of ceramic looking parts on it that the headlight wiring attaches to. Where did you get this part? Info much appreciated. Thanks.
