My 55 is back in the shop with a cracked exhaust manifold I am sure it is impossible to find a replacement. Is it possible to weld the part so I can use it. I Have two other parts but they are for an earlier engine

A lot has been written on this subject. Claims vary from it can't be done to JB weld works. Likely all are true- just depends on the circumstances. JB does have a high temp formulation that will work in some cases at least. A low impact thing to try first. Cast iron can be brazed and it can also be welded with rod designed for the application. It used to be that it required heating the entire piece to a high temp, but there supposedly are rods available now that don't require that. A good shop should be able to do it for you.
Frequently cracks are the result of torquing when the mating surface is warped. The crack will relieve the stress, so there is a reasonable probability that a repair made without removal with JB might work.

Cost me around $350.00 to have a manifold completely restored and ceramic coated. Had to have the studs removed, the riser valve rebuilt, the surfaces planed, assemble the thing and plane the surfaces that mate to the engine, new brass manifold nuts and gaskets, the ceramic coat the thing and now it looks like new. It took about four months of running around to get it done.

Of course, the colors are wrong, the intake should match the engine, and the exhaust should be the natural color of the metal, but I don't care.
