Gas station attendant uniform
« on: August 03, 2014, 08:45:56 AM »
As I try to find time to show my Kaiser I continue to look for ways to "stand out from the crowd" at these events. I think you all know I am really looking for all the Kaiser products to display with my car and have done very well (mostly outside this forum) in finding a lot of the tins and products.
Today my car (and I guess that includes me too  :)) have been invited to a car show that you need to dress up to attend. I am not the kind of guy who wants to dress up like the fancy people.

MY hope is to find an old Kaiser gas station attendant uniform!!!

Anyone have one I could buy?

Let me know.

We have a big show at the polo grounds near my house. The show leans toward the European makes so I take my MB but I always include a few framed pictures of the Kaisers. They draw more attention than the Mercedes.

I guess this show is mostly very high end european makes but somehow they wanted the Dragon. Maybe I need to add a European car to my stable..... ;D

Don't forget that 1951-53 Kaisers won(in total) dozens of European concourse beauty awards.  As for the uniform, K-F used the standard generic Unitog blue wide pinstripe coveralls for mechanics, and the white with dark blue trim Lab coat type jackets for service writers and the service manager.  They used the currently available type small K-F service patches sewn on.

That type was also used by the spiffier K-F service departments (the bigger dealers & distributors; they cost a bit more than the lesser blue ones like the one I have).

Jim.
That is COOL, exactly what i am looking for. Is that a unitog uniform? Thanks for posting the photo it sure would have been neat to be the car guy among all those fancy hat people at the polo match/car show.  It is hard to believe but they had a car at this show that had a $200,000 paint job......think how many nice Kaisers you could buy for just the cost of the paint job!

If you would ever part with that uniform I would be interested.

There are at least three K-F Unitog uniform brochures and they show a variety of different uniforms, with shirt and pants, service coats, parts coats, service suits and offer overseas hats or soft or hard bill hats and embroidered emblems.  I have a Ford shop coat in the blue and white and an all white K-F shop coat with the small emblem on the front but a 12" emblem on the back.  Kaiser also offered a few hats over the years relating to service or to special events.  Look for one of the large 12" emblems as they look great on the shop coats.

Isn't that one on the nice service coats that were given to the car owners last year at Shipshewana?  They were very nice!  Maybe some are still available!
