1951-55 Kaiser Trunk Lid Weather Seal question
« on: March 18, 2015, 11:02:39 PM »
Does anyone have the 1:source 2: part number 3:quantity to order for the rear trunk weather seal for the 51-55 Kaisers?  I'm impatient and lazy and don't want to do the research if I don't have to.  Thanks.

I am in need of the same thing. Sent an order to Rudy Phillips for all rubber items for my 54Manhattan I received every thing except for the rear window vents and the trunk. He told me he didn't have any left. I also ordered windshield gasket and a gasket material for the rear window from Steele Rubber. ( the rear window gasket will not fit the dogleg parts behind the rear doors and will not work for the dividers on the rear window, but my body shop man feels we can piece a rear window gasket together using my old dogleg and divider pieces.) I have not settled on material for the trunk gasket so I would also be interested in any ideas others may have.

A couple of years back I bought some trunk gasket on the bay that worked well- don't recall exactly who. Had a fairly large line of stuff, so doubt he has gone away. Might try checking the ebay stores.

Also, seems Restoration Specialties had something that would fit- they have (or at least had a year or so back) a large assortment of trunk gaskets with to scale crossections shown in their catalog. The universal looked like it would be a good fit.

I'm certain that Steel Rubber would have the stuff I need, I just have to go measure it and all that.  But as I said, I'm lazy and didn't want to bother with doing something that someone else, surely, has already done, hoping they would be reading the forum, and share their knowledge.  Thanks for all the advice.     8)

Rear window vent rubbers have resurfaced in the Bulletin on the Mfg Fund list.  ;) They were removed back in 2012 due to not fitting.  If there was an announcement of their return, I missed it...just happened to notice it a couple of months back.  Most folks probably don't realize they're available.   ???

Do they fit better?  Also, what to do about the fronts?
