Gary Micanek. He has been dealing in the correct engine paint for over 25 years--and at a very reasonable  ............  metal flake, it adds a very slight sparkle to the paint. No need to spray it on--it flows so well with a brush

Thanks

We have a large jobber here in town who was able to match the paint to an existing commercial grade coating. The downside is that it's only available in a gallon can at around $300. It can be brushed or sprayed and will hold up to engine block heat.

Is there enough interest at about $40 a pint to go with this paint?

This is the dark green for the 51-53 engines.

I've been told Packard dark green from 41-47 is the same but I've not seen an engine in the flesh to verify. Can anyone?

...I've been reading through many of the "engine paint "threads...As I am not ready to rebuild the engine yet I have been doing a little cleaning, checking and touch up...Regarding the Green, although it does lack the proper flake, I used Oliver Green. It is just a little darker than JD green. It came pretty close to the "aged" paint still visible on the block...going to play with laying a silver flake base first on the next to see if it is visible enough.

Noah

Another possibility is mid 50s Oldsmobile engine paint. It is supposedly the right shade but I do not know if there's any aluminum oxide in it.

I would also be interested in some of the engine paint if it is still available.  I hope to be ready to paint the engine a a few weeks.

If possible, and easily accessible; is it possible for someone to post a nice close pic of the green with flake one the engine? I'm going to play in the mixing booth next week and need to compare a few good pics to my very aged paint. Trying to match the flake content and type:-)
