« on: May 29, 2017, 05:56:21 PM »
I have 52 Henry J  with the 6 cyl. Engine. I have ordered a carb gasket, which is the carb to manifold gasket. I don't this is the one I need. I'm looking for the insolator gasket. It's the one that is about 3/8 to 5/8 thick. It's lays on the intake manifold, then the carb gasket and then the carb. Can anyone tell me where I could get one? Thanks Larry

Whatever gasket/spacer arrangement you use. Be EXTRA SURE that you have a clear path for the manifold vacuum to reach the small passage on the bottom flange of the carburetor.

Corsair Deluxe is quite correct. I opened some of my NOS HJ gasket sets and I've found some of each but  the info he posted makes sense!  If you use the one listed on the Willys site you may have to notch a corner out to make room for that passage.

I see Walck 4 WD shows that type as part of a kit -

http://walcks4wd.com/carburetor-assembly-rebuilt-f.html

I don't see it listed individually but you could send them a message and ask.
This one looks like it could be an "all purpose" version -

I checked some pictures of my cars that I took when doing work and the they reveal that two my cars (my '52 Vagabond and '53 Corsair Deluxe) have the style without the notches.  They all seem to run fine but now I'm curious to see if I notice a difference if I replace them. I'll probably do so this weekend.  I'll let you know what I find.

if you have a carter yf you need the hole for vacuum

if you have a gasket without the hole/slot, merely cut one into the gasket in the same area as the hole in the manifold

KISS...KEEP IN SIMPLE STUPID (no offense intended) merely explaining the common acronym
