I am ignorant on the Willys Aeros, Larks, etc...did they have both L and F head 161s or were they packaged to a particular model? Trying to gain some useful information :-)

According to my 'Motors Auto Manual, they were all 161 either L head or F head depending on the model of the car.  Larks and Falcons were L head, Ace, Wing and Eagle were F head.  The 226 motor was introduced in 1954 in the Ace and Eagle models, which it says were L head motors. In 1955 the last two models were the Bermuda and the Custom 6, still L head 226. 
The Jeeps and Trucks also had a 4 cylinder motor, Jeeps: 1952 4/L  1953-59 4/F,  Wagon; a mixture of every combination I have already mentioned including the 6's

If you will look in recent classified ads in our KFOCI Bulletin you will find an ad from Patrick Foster for his book on Willys cars.  It is the only all Willys book ever published and it has great information on Willy cars  from 1903 to 1963 .  www.oldemilfordpress.com  is the web site for ordering.

A four cylinder L-head was available in the low-line Aeros. I've seen two with such engines.

A four cyl Aero also turned up for sale in MO junkyard a few years ago but didn't show much.

Was the radiator moved back on the 4 cyl models, or have a fan shroud on it?

Although I have not seen a four cylinder Aero, the front engine compartment has bolting holes to install the radiator support back from the usual location.  I assume for the radiator to be placed rearward for a four cylinder engine.
Maybe someone could confirm the placement for a four cylinder.

I have heard rumors of 4cylinder Aeros, but that they were all export models. I don't think I have any in the registry, will need to check.

Hey Aeroman,

i am not sure if I placed my car in the registry.  I do remember having to move the battery to see the tag with the body number sometime in the past.  What's the best method to verify one has registered their vehicle?
