Kaiser Heater Cover
« on: November 15, 2017, 05:01:29 PM »
Cannot get the heater box cover off my '54 Kaiser. Removed three screws and disconnected the two hose connections. Top of cover moves out but bottom is hanging on. Is there another screw or a better way of removing the cover? Thanks

Bob, you have to drill a hole in the inner fender so you can stick a screwdriver up from the bottom to remove the bottom screw. I wrote a Tech Tip in an old Quarterly about this.

I thought there could be a fourth screw that was not visible. Do you know about where it is? Maybe by reviewing locations of the three I've removed, it will be obvious from the pattern? Or can I find the old post you noted? Thanks

Drilled one hole and then needed a second one to locate and get the 4th screw out. Took at least 40 tries to get the screwdriver positioned into the screw head. Box will from now on be held by the upper three screws. Found the heater core to be fine, but the control valve is bad and on its way to be rebuilt.
