1953 Willys Areo for sale in Rapid City, SD
« on: February 18, 2018, 06:42:06 PM »
This is clearly a project or parts car - very overpriced at $4500 - located near Rapid City, SD.  No engine or hood is apparent.  The ad calls this car an "ACE" but that is not likely due to the split front windshield typically found in Aero Larks.  I cannot tell whether if the rear back glass is wide (typical of an Ace) or narrow (typical of a Lark or Falcon in 1953) from the one picture provided from the front.  The original color appears to have been Riviera Grey judging form the non-rusted portion of the engine compartment.  Although there is a lot of rust, much of the trim is intact.

The 1952 Aero Ace had a two piece windshield but this is not an Ace.   This car is either a 1952 Aero Wing or a 1953 Aero Falcon.   It has the small rear window.  The 1953 Aero Lark did not have stainless trim around the front window.

They made a lot of variations and I have a hard time keeping up.  As for the ad, this is common and seen a lot. This car, like a newer car, a house that has been paid for or business interests that have been depreciated - is simply found money if somebody wants to pay $4500.  If not, no worries, it just sits.

The asking price has ZERO correlation to value or anything.  Likely, the sellers are looking for free vacation money for the cruise they booked and thought, "hey let's sell the Willys!"   How much is the trip? sez Wilma.  Farmer Bob says $3800!   Ask $4500 for it then!  OK.
No old cars owned.
