Darrin Muffler
« on: April 26, 2018, 10:38:31 AM »
Can anyone tell me the size of the original Darrin muffler. As you know I am finally restoring an original car and have never installed the original exhaust system.
Thanks
Lee

Attached is a picture of an original muller that came off car #183. It's 16" long - add three inches on each end for the inlet and outlet pipes. It's four inches wide.

Hope this helps!

Were the inlet and outlets centered on the ends? Or either offset up/down?

I got a stainless system from this guy for my Aero. I see he has aluminized steel and stainless systems for the Darrin.
I had a choice of an OEM type muffler with 2 baffles, 1 baffle or no baffles.

I purchased the system for my Darrin from Waldron's. For those considering the same, know that there was more than one configuration used by KF when they originally built the cars. The difference lies in the exhaust pipe and how it drops from the manifold and then wraps around the steering box and frame. You'll need to know this when ordering.
