El Dorado Region Spring Meet – Auburn CA - May 10-12

We will meet for lunch at Sweetpeas Restaurant, 13498 Luther Rd, Auburn CA. We are set up with reservations for 12 noon. I will distribute maps of all the locations and our caravan routes for the weekend.

After lunch we can check into the hotel just a couple blocks down the road. Super 8 Motel, 140 E Hillcrest Dr, Auburn. The cut-off date was 3/31/19, but they may have a few rooms still available at the discounted rate of $70 (one bed) or $75 (twin beds). Be sure to mention "The Kaiser / Frazer Club." Call 530-888-  8808 and ask to speak with manager Stephanie.

After check in, we will all caravan to downtown Auburn for the season opener "Cruise Night.” They DO NOT reserve spaces for that event but we were advised where to park legally in the event area before 3pm, so we would have all our cars grouped together. At 4:30 we’ll move to the show spot. Once our cars are parked in the event, we CANNOT remove them until about 7pm. Please bring your lawn chairs to be seated next to our cars. Also highly recommended would be to bring a shade umbrella if the afternoon sun becomes too hot!

As we will be with our cars for the dinner hour, there are a couple options for dinner:
1. Kim and I will distribute menus for great pizza when we gather for lunch earlier that day. At that time, our members can place their individual takeout order for dinner at our vehicles. We need to place those orders at lunchtime, so the pizzas can be ready for us by 6:00. I will pick up the pizzas and bring them to the Cruise Night to enjoy.

2. You can eat at one of the downtown restaurants near our cars (1 to 3 blocks away). Note that they will be VERY BUSY, and seating is NOT guaranteed, but that is an alternate option if you do not want pizza. It is also recommended that members bring an ice chest with drinks for the afternoon and if you choose to have pizza for dinner.

After Cruise Night, back to the hotel for a good night’s sleep!

Saturday morning breakfast will be the continental breakfast provided by the motel in the lobby. After breakfast we will caravan to OLD TOWN Auburn to the Placer County Museum at the old courthouse. We need to be in the courthouse parking lot no later than 9:30am. We will be treated to a docent led tour of the museum and a walking tour of Old Town. If walking is a problem, you can remain at the museum and check that out further.

For lunch, we travel about a block on foot to Mexican food at Cafe Delicious, 1591 Lincoln Way, Auburn. Again, for those who do not wish to walk to the restaurant, we can carpool them to lunch and back. Its only about a block, but downhill a bit. After lunch, we visit the Gold Rush Museum in Auburn, a couple miles away. We can all caravan over to that location. After that tour, its back to the motel to freshen up before dinner.

Dinner will be at Mels 50's diner on Hi way 49 in Auburn. A great full menu is offered there, and the banquet room is reserved for us. We could hold our business meeting at that time, or back at the motel lobby the next morning. Whatever we decide. The motel lobby is pretty small, and we would have to bring our lawn chairs in for the meeting, but they are willing to let us use the lobby for that purpose.

After dinner at Mels, we head back to the motel for the evening.

Any questions, please contact Pete or Kim Coffey at 530-913-3595. We look forward to seeing you.
