Darrin origins
« on: July 25, 2019, 02:59:07 PM »
An undated Kaiser-Frazer press release states in part that "The original Darrin Kaiser-Frazer experimental sports car prototypes were built in Los Angeles in cooperation with United States Rubber Co. and the Owen-Corning Fiberglas Corp."  I wonder if they are referring to Bill Tritts Glasspar boat works in Costa Mesa CA South of Los Angeles.  I had heard that Bill Tritt was in on the deveopment of the Darrin and this makes sense as Darrin's shop was in Hollywood and about a two hours drive North of Bill Tritt.  Bill Tritt was a pioneer in making fiberglass boats, designed and produced the Glasspar roadster and modified that for B.R. "Woody" Woodill, a Willys dealer and made the bodies for  them by installing Willys tail lights and engines in the Glasspar bodies.  the Any comments?
