Gas and oil
« on: September 30, 2019, 05:40:01 PM »
Hello-----I just purchased a 1953 Kaiser Manhattan. I would like to know that when I need the oil changed, what is the ideal weight oil?? Also, I was told to have the "mid" grade gasoline. In Colorado, we have 85, 87 and 91 Octane. So, do I assume I get the 87 Regular gas?? In CA, their gas is 87, 91, and 93 I believe........Thanks, Dan (a new Coloradoian and Kaiser owner)

--use 85 octane, 10w30 or 15w40 oil, change at 2000mi or at 3000mi if you have an oil filter.
I used a gallon of diesel fuel with every fill up with gas ,helps with vaporlock in my 53 Kaiser.

Am using 15-40 weight oil and 85 octane gas, and also intermittently using an electric fuel pump for cold starts and slow hot summer traffic. No problems.
