correct steering wheel color
« on: June 23, 2020, 03:45:31 PM »
My '54 KM is light green lower body color and dark green roof and dash. But it has a black steering wheel.  Should the steering wheel be a dark green?

54 manhattans were supposed to come with color coordinated steering wheels. Most wound up with black steering wheels. Either black or instrument cluster color would be OK.

Thanks, I'd rather have color coordinated steering wheel.  I think I'll ask a paint shop if they could paint it dark green that wouldn't wear or chip off.

Steering wheels get a lot of hard use especially if you wear a ring.  The factory paint did not last long on them as you are aware and I doubt if a repaint would last too long either because of the flex on the wheel when you are parking and turning the wheel.  A colored steering wheel does look nice.
