Transmission oil leak-1949 Kaiser Special

My 1949 Kaiser Special with manual trans. is leaking trans oil.  I have found a set of four gaskets on E-Bay  ( For 1949-1953 Kaiser Deluxe Manual Transmission Gasket Set Felpro 93319JB 1950) that supposedly is appropriate for the car.  Can anyone confirm that they have used the same gaskets or recommend other gaskets and offer suggestions on what else generally needs to be done?  I will have it done professionally and wonder if anyone can offer a price idea.

There must be someone out there who has taken the trans apart and had to replace all the seals.  Where did you find all the gaskets and whatever else was needed to seal the trans. properly?

Who is the original maker of this tranny?  Did Kaiser develop it, or was it used on other cars as the GM built Hydramatic auto trans was, on Kaisers?

If it was in use on other vehicles of the day, it may be the needed seal kit could be found on a specialty site for one of those other vehicles...

The manual transmissions used in Kaiser-Frazer product (like the overdrive also used on K-F and Willys vehicles) was a product of Borg-Warner.  Just check the shop manual for transmission type (T-90 or T-96) and go from there as the same gear box was used on other makes.

Rule #2, part 1 of basic problem solving states:  The questions you ask are far more important than the solution you seek.  If you continue to ask the wrong questions the solution will continue to elude you.

Now we know it is most likely a Borg Warner T90 or T96 3 speed tranny that you have, and given it's a '49 I would venture to infer it's more likely a T90 than a T96, but it doesn't sound like any differences between the two would determine what seals are needed.

There are several other tranny kits at Willy's America, if that one does not fit the bill...

For the T96 there are similar kits to be found, again, I would recommend going with the Willy's America selection...good peeps, all trying to keep these ancient beasties on the road, more than trying to make a buck...though yes, they will make a buck on your order...have to, to stay in business.

The best end result hereabouts is a Kaiser or Frazer you can drive where you want to...down the block, across the country...

If we don't keep these cars going, no one else will...

I thought it was a T-86 transmission.  Is there a difference in terms of seals from the T-86 to T-90 or T-96?
