The 1953 Kaiser muffler for h/d equipped cars may still work on the 1954's.  Let me check tonight when I get home.  If it does, there is some interchangability with certain Studebaker models.

Ok, here's what I found:
1.  The 1972 Walker Muffler catalog S72 showed their #21075 for 1953-55 Kaisers.  This number was also used on 1955 8 cyl. Commender and President models.  The same number is also listed for 1954-55 Aero Willys models with the 226 engine, the 1954-58(early) Willys 226 equipped 4WD Station Wagon, the 1954-58 (early) Jeep trucks with the 226 and 1955-58 6-226 2 wheel drive station wagons and sedan deliveries (EARLY).
2. Using the Walker information above, I crossed it to Willys Motors P/N's 735622 This P/N was still current in Kaiser Jeep books issued in 1967.
3.  AP's 1964 book lists a P/N 510 for the 1953-54 Kaisers and the Aero Willys with the 226; it also gives a Studebaker part number of 536409 for the 1955 application noted in the Walker book.
4.  The 1963 Maremont book lists an ST46 as a replacement for the Willys P/N and the Studebaker P/N.
Hope this is a help.

This might be of some help.

Don Simmons is a very respected Studebaker parts vendor, and his exhaust systems and parts are the gold standard. Besides being made of stainless, they FIT. He has customers from all over the US and Canada, and very pleased they are indeed. Some of you who have experience with Studebakers might know that some V8 applications just aren't/cannot be done right at 99.9% of places and won't fit--there were some uncommon tweakings necessary by the engineers at the factory to get everything to clear all equipment and fittings. Don doesn't do Kaiser exhaust pipes, but he does the right muffler and you can choose your tone as well. Since Kaiser only had what--two different exhaust designs, one for 47-50(51), and 51-55, all on the same two wheelbases, perhaps if he could be persuaded to do these as well....

Kepich Exhaust in Florida sells steel and stainless steel systems for most cars, including KF, so if I have to, I can order a muffler from him. My aim with my original post was to see if there was a current muffler number available for a modern brand X that would work for my 54 that would be available locally. I have an NORS International Parts Co muffler (#627) that I could use, but I prefer to hang on to it for a true restoration.
I do have access to the latest Walker and Maremont catalogs so I will try using the numbers provided and see where they lead. Wish me luck!

With the arrival of the catylitic converter, exhaust systems underwent significant changes as did the vehicles themselves.  Unless there is a truck application that I am not aware of, there are no "current" equivilents.  If you do find one, please post the info so others can make use of it.

Thanks
