Example of Caribbean Coral Cloth?
« on: May 04, 2011, 02:13:37 PM »
I was wondering if anyone had a picture of what color Caribbean Coral upholstery would have looked like, I'd like to match it to some fabric I have.

Any material will do, I am more concerned with the color. Unless the color varies with Volta and Stockholm...

The reason I ask is that I believe someone in past redid my interior in Cardinal Red rather than Coral.. I wanted something to compare my interior to.

The actual trim code from the data tag would probably be the best reference for finding what it would have had originally. Does the code translate to "Caribbean Coral?"
There were some strange combinations out there.  I have a friend who has a Caribbean Coral Henry J and the trim code indicates "Cape Verde Green Dinosaur Vinyl!"  Who would've thought??
The trim code will help if you can post it.

Dave Hollen told me my Paint was Mineral Gray (375) and my trim is Caribbean Coral Stockholm Upholstery (2435)

I know what it is supposed to be. I just would like a picture a sample, anything in the Caribbean Coral Color to help me determine what shade or hue my interior is supposed to be.

I have 3 upholstery Sample books ... I believe they are all from 1949.  If I remember correctly you were going to be at the SD Natl.  If it would help I will bring the 3 books along for you to look through.  My sample books are missing some of the name and number references however.  I know Seth Jones has these books with all the original names and numbers still intact.  FYI he lives in SD so I bet we can get him to help as well.  What year is the vehicle in question??

I will be in SD for the Natl. but only for 2 days. You can bring the books if you wish, but I don;t want to want you bring anything that is valuable in case of damaging it. The car in question is a 1951 Kaiser Deluxe

Those images are very helpful, thank you. It seems to me the Coral upholstery was on the darker side... but I still believe my interior to be too dark.. hmm.

I'll snap some photos of my interior later and maybe you guys could tell me if it looks to be the right shade of red.

Sometimes removing a door panel and looking at the fabric that was folded over on the back, can reveal the original color. On my '53 J, I would've sworn it had tan cloth but when I removed one of the back seat ashtrays the real, unfaded color, was revealed and it was actually a grayish taupe.
