steering wheel
« on: March 03, 2012, 07:37:27 PM »
Almost forgot about this question. My steering wheel is in pretty poor shape. I've never seen one advertised for sale in the bulletin. I know that catalog that sells all kinds of sand blasters and other tools, paints etc., can't remember the name, sells a kit to fix cracked steering wheels. Has anyone tried that stuff? Or is there someone who has them, that I didn't know about?

Thanks,
Kory

I think the company you are thinking of is Eastwood.  http://www.eastwood.com/master-steering-wheel-repair-kit-w-instruc.html   I purchase the kit to do my Steering wheel on my Henry J. It is a lot of work. In fact, I do not have it done yet. I am thinking of sending out one of my backup Henry J steering wheels to have it done professionally. Bob Adams, the guy who did all the Darrins for Barrett/Jackson has a company in California that does all his Steering Wheels. Runs between $250  to $350.

Yes that is the kit I was talking about. I will probably give that a try. Saving the money is more important right now than the time. I have someone that can paint it for me.

Here's one -

It's got a 1951 Kaiser horn button on it. Don't let that fool you, it is indeed a '47/'48 steering wheel. Of course, it does not appear to be in great shape either but it may be better than what you have.

Didn't we have a reproduction steering wheel done through the mfg fund a few years back with the pearl.  Does anyone still have one? Would this be a suitable application for his application?
