Where and how does the cone shaped device fit into the heater mechanism?

That cone goes inside the heater box .The big end goes up against the heater core .The small end matches up to the round hole that faces the front seat. I will try to send a picture.

The picture can enlarge . #5 is the heater box. The round thing on the left is the cone installed inside it. I think the edge of the cone has a rubber gasket where it rests on the heater core. I wish I had a better picture.

Thanks very much for the information. It has all come together. I couldn't open the fot at first but I finally figured it out.
