Henry J Vent Wing Rubber Installation
« on: April 14, 2013, 02:22:16 AM »
The 52 HJ  We bought came with all the window frames off the car,  and  I am still puzzling it all together.

I currently have the divider bars between door window and vent window chrome getting replated.  Tonight I laid out all the pieces minus the chrome.   I have new vent rubber that came with the car.

What is the installation procedure?  Do I put it all together outside the car or inside the car?  How do I get the rubber onto that metal channel around the vent window??

When I replaced the vent rubbers in a 53 Allstate, I started from the bottom and worked my way up. I used a soft plastic bondo spreader with a rounded edge in addition to some dish washing liquid to act as a lubricant. As you insert the rubber, tug on it a bit as it does need a little stretching to fit properly...at least mine did. I assemebled everything outside the car and then installed it in the car. While it's loose in the car, install the door glass.
