2013 National Convention Update
« on: June 27, 2013, 06:12:10 PM »
Convention update: I spoke to the meet host a few days ago and there are 60+ cars registered and well over 150 members and their guests attending. With a month to go until the meet, they hope to see quite a few more cars and people sign up. So, if you haven't sent in your registration...DO IT NOW!

One of the benefits of attending a national meet is the rare opportunity to find almost any part you're looking for. At last year's meet there were no less than a dozen vendors selling everything from a 47K three piece bumper (I bought it) to an NOS 55 Willys Bermuda grille (I sold it). This year, I will have a selection of manufacturing fund parts at the meet. I will be bringing:
- Darrin part light lenses
- Darrin license light gaskets
- Darrin wiring grommets
- 47-50 KF body mount cushions
- Trunk handle gaskets for the 49-50K, 49-51F, and 52-55K
- 52-54 HJ grille medallions
- 52-53K Hood ornament plastic K insert
- Darrin air cleaner donuts and 51-53K horn insulator donuts
- Windshield to body moulding - Darrin
- 47-50K and 47-51F heel pads
I will also be bringing a selection of parts from my collection to sell.

I agree, I found parts I needed in 2012. If you dont bring your car, just go! You might find the part you need to get your car on the road or looking good for those car shows.

Barbara and I will be there and I plan to turn over KFOCI HANDBOOK Version 5.0's master to club management so they can get it out to the membership per Mike Knittel's plan announced late last year to release the updated CD to members as a QUARTERLY issue.  I will also be able to demo the work to show the new stuff if my time at the convention allows (will only be there Tuesday and Wed. until the end of the Membership Meeting).

If anyone's looking for a particular part and will be attending the convention, post your wants here. A few of the vendors check out this site...hopefully they'll have what you need and will bring it along!

60+ now is a good number as there is usually a large number added in the last month (procrastinators) Wow could be 90-100 cars.
No old cars owned.

Swap meet normally runs the entire convention;  what's available depends on when people with parts & stuff get in.  Normally though, the first 2-3 days have best selection.

The host hotel is the Amish Country Inn which is located at 800 South Van Buren Street. Monday is arrival day so if you're looking for parts, Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday and Thursday will be your best days.

I neglected to mention that to take full advantage of the week's activities, you will need to register with the meet hosts. This months KFOCI bulletin contains a registration form you can complete and mail in. Doing so will give you full access to the meet, including the hospitality room.

I've never been to something like this before. Can I register at the convention if so how much? A friend and I want to go and want to get the best out of it. Can we sell parts there or do we have to pay for a spot? We'er looking for part also. Just don't want to do the wrong thing. Any help as what would be the right thing would be very much appreciated.
