1949 Kaiser Spark Plug Wires
« on: November 26, 2013, 10:28:38 AM »
I am searching for wires for my 1949 Kaiser.  I did a search for wires on this site but did not find exactly what I was looking for.  Someone said go to an Alternator shop and have them build wires and someone else said go to a tractor place and get a set.  I saw a set at Autozone that were 7mm that looked like they would work but did not buy them.  They also had a set that you could crimp yourself so that you could make the wire as long or as short as you like.  Not sure if this style would work or not.  Does anyone have a suggestion on what they did for their 49?  My cap is in good shape but when it needs replacing does anyone know where to get one of those?

Parts  Interchange List shows 49-55 KF use NAPA 700170 wires.

GM wire sets for cars with the 230 or 250 six cylinder non- HEI engine are nearly identical. The only difference is that the #1 wire is longer than needed. I installed a set on my 49K and to look authentic, I removed the rubber boot at the plug end. I also shortened the #1 wire, although it could be left as is because it won't get in the way of anything.

Hi guys, so i'm in the same situation as Joekeys, i would like to refresh part of the ignition system on my 51 DeLuxe by replacing spark plugs, wires, distributor cap & rotor. What brand should i buy to keep it as authentic as possible? From where? Would you have part numbers? Thanks!

The Napa 700170 wire kit is a build your own kind of a kit.  I ordered a Napa 700165 kit and they fit good but the wires are a little long on a couple of plugs.  I removed the boot so as to make them look like the ones I pulled off.  I did not replace the cap, button or points so cant help you out there.
