Transmission
« on: January 05, 2014, 05:55:48 PM »
My car comes out of second gear really easy.  I would say that it jumps out but in this case jumps is too strong of a word.  Sometimes when driving it, when I push in the clutch it will fall out of gear and into neutral.  No other gear seems to do that.  What is causing it and is it something I need to worry about?  The car is a 1949 three speed manual no over drive.

A synchronizer is worn and that's allowing the car to drop out of gear.

There are detents on the shift  forks that may be worn or have broken springs.
