These originally had plated tin bumpers and a plastic windshield and steering wheel. Toy Founders was based in Detroit and must have gotten word that K-F was going to come out with a convertible as their first ads showed the toy with a 1948 style grille. The toy would wind up and steer and go in reverse as well as three speeds forward and came in five different colors. The toy retailed for $2.98 in 1949 but I had to pay $400 for mine new in the box. These are quite hard to find in nice condition today due to their plastic body that easily warped and most have lost some of their parts especially the windshield, bumpers, head lights and hub caps.
